politics @lemmy.world•Top House Dem Says Trump Should ‘Keep His Reckless Mouth Shut’: He’s Gonna Get ‘Someone Killed’
25·10 months agoHe saw the dems were just plain getting away with it, so…
Soon, they will have a supermajority.

Maybe the democrats should have worked hard enough to get a majority. Or chosen to negotiate by allowing the bill for temporary snap funding to pass.
The democrats blocking the last one is them DIRECTLY withholding snap funding until they get what they want.
Their strategy, is that people are stupid and will blame the republicans for the actions of the democrats. More likely though, the democrats are going to give the republicans that supermajority in 2026.
What do you mean by this? The democrats are literally engaging in a filibuster. Did you not see Katherine Clark say “There will be families that are going to suffer… but it is one of the few leverage times we have.”?
They literally just have to let the budget go to vote.
They have 53/100 in the Senate, and because this is less than 60, it permits the FILIBUSTER to take place on the part of the democrats, who are refusing to let the budget go to vote.
House Republicans offered a bill to keep specifically SNAP funded while everything else is still under negotiation.
Democrats declined.
Seems like we’ve been in “late stage capitalism” from before the invention communism all the way to late stage communism and post-communism.

Political Memes@lemmy.world•Let us work for the needs of all rather than the profit of few.
25·1 year agoThis is a part-time dog walker take. Be pro-worker, not anti-work. A lot of workers should be better paid, better treated, safer. But if you want to enjoy the labor all at once of construction workers, electricians, farmers, bakers, miners, hell just imagine how many people are in the production chain for your toilet paper? You should still expect to work hard.
In practice, it does. It’s been a way to deliberately stuff influential positions with political supporters.
Let me guess, charlie kirk sitting in public with a microphone was attacking and the guy sitting on a rooftop with a rifle was defending?

Hey, remember how during the 2016 election cycle, Obama said “Trump doesn’t have a magic wand, he can’t fix the economy”? And then later when trump was in office and the economy was good, he said “Trump is bragging about my economy”? Well which is it?
(It’s a moot question because the US economy has been founded on unsustainable money printing since 2009)
Based on the popular vote, being right wing gives you a bigger dating pool than being left wing according to this principle. Then again, right wingers are more likely to talk to their political opposition rather than leaving or getting violent, since they aren’t as used to echo chambers.
Are you absolutely certain about the middle two sentences?

434·1 year agoHm, good thing no Democrat judge ever did something like outright stating they’re taking a side and ignoring the law, and also put in their opinion that their ruling won’t stand without law changes.
I remember when they were alarmed over a 2024 election wipeout.
