This is a classic conservative line of thinking. It’s not true. It’s simplistic. It makes people who believe it feel like they are smart and hard-core. And the rich want them to believe it, so they pay people to say it loudly and often.

People are not all good or all bad. They have some good views and some bad views, and they can change. They are regularly swayed by the constant stream of propaganda being pumped out. Even so, most everyone wants the world to be a better place, and they are mad it’s not.

Thoughts like this are what push people further right. “People are bad. Therefore, if the world is to be better, we should punish those people.” Convservatives basically become masochistic and sadistic through these lines of thinking. Punish me, father, I’m a sinner. It’s a very effective mechanism for control.

The reason that the left thinks reactionaries would agree with them is because in many instances they already do. Reactionaries are just reacting to the constant stream if propaganda being pushed their way. But often, in spite of that, many of them do agree with what the left stands for they just don’t know the left stands for it. Most of the policies the left pushes have broad public support. People just don’t know the left is the side fighting for things they agree with. Or they’re convinced that the left is fighting for it in a way that is incorrect. They are too “extreme.”

People love to shit on TikTok, but honestly, I really enjoy it. It’s not for everyone, and that’s okay. Short-form content can be a lot—for me too. It took me a while to hone my algorithm and wade through stuff I didn’t like. But TikTok stands out compared to Instagram Reels or YouTube Shorts. The content feels more authentic and engaging. When I scroll through TikTok, I often feel like I’m learning something new or having my perspective challenged.

TikTok’s algorithm doesn’t completely suppress leftist views. It’s one of the few platforms where conversations about issues like the genocide in Palestine actually gain traction. Of course, it’s a corporate platform, and it’s far from perfect. It has its alt-right pipelines and played a role in Trump winning this election because it was popular, and his team utilized it. But let’s not pretend that’s unique to TikTok—all social media platforms are allowing and often skewing towards the alt-right.

And then there’s the whole “TikTok is Chinese spyware” narrative, which just feels like a distraction. If we’re worried about surveillance, let’s not ignore how U.S.-based platforms are also spying on us—for corporations and the government alike. Singling out TikTok for being Chinese misses the bigger picture entirely. This ban is happening because Meta and others don’t want competition.

You only think that because it makes a good story. The reality is more complicated. Psychological factors and gun availability lead to some people killing people. Not bullying. Columbine is a famous example where the shooters were arguably bullies themselves.

I mean, her campaign was pretty awful in a lot of ways. It started out strong but since the DNC it was misstep after misstep. I dunno about you, but I love hearing the president say they’ll only be different than Biden, because they’ll have more Republicans in their cabinet. I love hearing they’re going to build the wall. I love hearing them talk all the time about the fact that Cheney endorsed them. I love hearing how profracking they are. And I love their silence on the genocide in Gaza. Certainly, sexism and racism plays a role, but let’s not kid ourselves here.

There’s a lot you’re saying that I agree with, but it’s undeniable that sending weapons to Isreal is not solving this problem it’s directly causing the problem. Biden is incredibly ineffective at solving this and is not holding any sort of red line for real. He needs to hold Isreal accountable for their actions. We have sent billions and billions of dollars of weapons to Isreal, and we likely aren’t stopping anytime soon even if Kamala is elected. We need to hold their feet to the fire and show them this is unacceptable.
