politics @lemmy.world•OK, But You Do Know You’re Eulogizing Charlie Kirk, Right? Are we talking about the same guy, NYT, MSNBC, and Gavin Newsom?
2·1 year agoWhy? Because we are humans with emotions and feelings.
I fail to understand what this means. What emotions and what feelings? Empathy, sadness, rage, happiness, justice, confusion, emptiness? Can I just slap that line onto whatever argument I try making in the future about anything and trust that you will be on my side?

politics @lemmy.world•Jerry Seinfeld says people who say 'Free Palestine' are worse than the Ku Klux Klan
21·1 year agoBelieve it or not, your level of maturity at 17 years old does not represent the majority of 17 year olds. Nor does mine and I considered myself to be reasonably mature at that age, as it seems you believe yourself to have been. What makes grooming so effective is that the targets of grooming don’t realize when it is happening. You may be right about the definition, but the way you are going about trying to correct people is insensitive to the topic at hand. Especially when it is so obvious that said point has gone straight over your head. You are completely off topic with the definitions argument.

2·1 year agoYes because we all know every relationship is consensual. Especially when it’s between a man in his late 30s who took an interest in a 17 year old girl. Why would the word “grooming” ever be a thought on anyone’s mind in such a scenario.

31·1 year agoThe behavior of a man in his late 30s pursuing a teenager. WTF else could they possibly mean with that comment. You’re going really far out if your way to miss the point being talked about here.
I’m not saying you claimed anything. I’m asking what relevance there is as to whether the women made their claims on social media or not. I’m genuinely confused by the first comment of yours I replied to.
So what is the point of questioning whether these women made their claims on social media or not?
And how did it get to the press?
Why do you think you’re hearing about it?

I’ve only read the first Mistborn book so far but Sanderson had absolutely no prose in his writing. I don’t want to be too critical since that was one of his first books two decades ago, but it felt like I was reading something written by a high schooler. However, the actual story and plot were amazing. I’m definitely going to continue reading his books with the hope that he doesn’t continue to write “Vin rolled her eyes” 300 more times. His magic system is really well thought out and the characters are very believable and likeable. King on the other hand, is kind of the exact opposite. His prose is top notch but he usually writes about fuck all. I’m currently on the final Dark Tower book and it’s a slog to get through. I liked most of the previous books in the series so I’m determined to finish it, but you can tell he just makes shit up as he goes. I think King excels with his short stories, even the best Dark Tower book in my opinion is a sort of spin off from the rest. Like I said, I’ll gladly keep reading through Sanderson’s works for now but I really hope he learns to become engaging with his actual words on the paper.

Any criticism of Democrats isn’t the same thing as saying “both sides are the same”
Didn’t realize the N word was family friendly lol
I haven’t seen 4 but 2 was my favorite lol
Not everyone is qualified to propose good ideas, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t qualified to point out a problem. I also feel that some things are hard to avoid on certain parts of the internet. I fully back BLM, but there have been times that I just want to enjoy memes without seeing yet another BLM post. That’s not because I think its been said to death, but it gets tiring to constantly be reminded of something terrible happening in the world. Sometimes you just need a break from it. ACAB is another example of that i think many people feel. I think you’re right though that not many people have offered good solutions, but I think we are still in the phase that there are plenty of people who still fully back the terrible acts being done by American police. So for now it’s still mostly just saying ACAB.
No, but it doesn’t mean I’ll never speed again as soon as im out of their view. I’d say at best they delayed a crime from happening. But I get how that has its legitimate usefulness too.

I too expect to find legitimate political discourse on c/politicalmemes!
