Not in the US but I swear prices and inflation adjusted real wage just straight up never recovered since the 2008 crash, Sure ‘the economy’ has done better and even apparently had a few more crashes and recoveries but on the street its been continuous gradual downhill with little extra drops anytime something major happens.

To be fair if people had been coming into my country and blowing shit up and murdering people then settling on the land for the last 50 years both myself AND my parents would have known pretty much nothing else and I’d be pretty likely to view them with nothing but rather coherant hatred.

To be fair the pilgrims were offered sanctuary in other countries first and then got mad that everyone wasn’t exactly like them. That said a lot of the other initial colonizers were people being outright evicted from their home countries for non-religious reasons.
