I don’t really think this brand of nonsense peddling works for the left. There are already many, many comedians on the left providing left or left leaning takes and not shoveling conspiracy garbage onto their shows… Jon Stewart, John Oliver for example. They’re popular, but they aren’t going to seize the same crowd as Rogan.

I want to believe this is true. I hope that things go that way - if America leads a shift in the way the world gets it’s goods that could be a good thing. But I’m not sure that’s what will happen, honestly.

I agree with both you and the meme. You’re right that everyone should have sucked it up and voted for Kamala anyway. The meme is right because the Dems fucked this royally at several stages. Yes, American voters have made a decision that I massively disagree with… But you also have to recognise the vast political mistakes the party have made that led to this point.

I would say everyone does it. Confirmation bias isn’t something you can completely avoid. You can try to recognise it in yourself, but most of the time it’s a lot more subtle. As simple as reading something you agree with and not going to check the source. We ALL do that.

Well given that an LLM produced the nonsense riddle above, obviously it cannot predict that. It can predict the structure of a riddle perfectly well, it can even get the rhyming right! But the extra layer of meaning involved in a riddle is beyond what LLMs are able to do at the moment. At least, all of them that I’ve seen - they all seem to fall flat with this level of abstraction.

It doesn’t understand anything. It predicts a word based on previous words - this is why I called it syntax. If you imagine a huge and vastly complicated series of rules about how likely one word is to follow up to, say, 1000 others… That’s an LLM.

AI doesn’t have a mind to do mental leaps, it only knows syntax. Just a form of syntax so, so advanced that it sometimes accidentally gets things factually correct. Sometimes.
