  • They didn’t give anything. Complete absence of things. Null. Zero. It’s especially deranged to think they possessed an entire country to give. It’s literally impossible to give what you don’t have, and claiming otherwise is serious mental gymnastics.

BTW I didn’t vote for him and my state has sent its electoral votes to Dems from current day contiguously back longer than any other state. So assuming who I support is another ignorant statement.

  • If you go through a defensive carry class you’d almost certainly be discouraged from doing that by the instructor for multiple reasons:

First is that all ammo can be lethal, even blanks. So if you’re not willing to kill to protect your own life, that may cause it anyway. On the flip side, a prosecutor will argue that if lethal ammunition wasn’t required, then use of a gun wasn’t necessary and you’ve not only broken firearm discharge laws (in place where most people live), but are also guilty of assault with a weapon with intent to kill or maim.

Firing a gun in self-defense is only warranted if nonlethal means are insufficient. If you try using less-lethal ammo and it doesn’t stop your attacker, you’re killed or seriously injured. If you try using less-lethal ammo and it does stop your attacker, you’re still screwed by the legal system (possibly except under some “stand your ground” laws).

  • My use of eBay is closer to my use of Craigslist instead of being like an auction. I don’t like to wait for the long bidding windows used online. I also don’t like haggling on prices. In this case, people post what they’re selling, and if I decide to buy it a third party payment platform is used to transfer funds.

The differences are that CL is usually items I pick up personally instead of being shipped (but not always), and some CL sellers only accept cash. I have also picked up eBay purchases locally.

Even more strawman arguments. Read back through the comments - I never said anything about fire extinguishers, and am not defending anyone who is lax on safety.

Most enthusiasts are very serious about safety but know that the implementation details are situational.

Accidents are also very rare. If we want to try to reduce the small percentage who don’t take safety seriously, we should start early and make a safety course part of everyone’s schooling.

Is English not your first language? ‘Their’ in that context refers to the person you were replying to: SupraMario.

And as far as Midwesterners and more specifically my political beliefs; while we Minnesotans have a proud tradition of independence, we’re not all Jesse Ventura. Our most popular party is the DFL, which is somewhat distinct from the national Democrat party, and we’ve supported (D) presidential candidates more than any other state. I’m more in the camp of ‘If you go far enough left you get the guns back’. Every gun club I’ve been a member of has had strong membership support of safe handling and storage, but what that looks like differs based on multiple factors such as whether there are children in the household. Not drinking before or during shooting is often in the club’s bylaws.
