212·1 year agoYou mentioned placate after I said a shooting is bad strategy, so it was implied.
Anyway I’m done with this. I don’t think you discuss in good faith.

29·1 year agoPlacate ≠ not killing anyone.
True or not, the story is out that one of the casings had "“Hey fascists! Catch.” etched.
It doesn’t even matter if that’s true. The shooting is done, and the crazier ones will think of it as a favor.

212·1 year agoYou know how they like to milk things for years? Benghazi, Hunter’s laptop, etc? To them this killing provides another justification along those lines.
It’s incredibly short sighted, and again while I really hope I’m wrong, actual good people may suffer and die for ‘mah revenge’. Trump may even direct all media to ignore, or worse, celebrate if that happens.
We all know they just want some reason to pull a trigger, and I think it’s poor strategy to give one to them.

212·1 year agoI can’t condone what he did, but I’m not sad about it.
What worries me is that you can’t out-hate or out-violence these Trumpers. Those are core ideals to them, along with the cheating/lying/persecution routines.
I suspect they’re thinking they don’t want to be outdone with gun violence. Hopefully there is no further bloodshed.
Ok moron, now warn Gaetz not to withdraw. We all know you don’t want him to pull out anyway

917·2 years agoI fail to see any logic with anyone interviewed. They knew things would be worse for Palestine and Lebanon with the donvict, they know they personally may face hardship as a consequence of the election. They know they were duped.
But they wanted to punish Democrats and Harris particularly. Does that satisfaction make the rest of the shit sandwich taste good?

109·2 years agoTake heart. Our fellow citizens are slow learners, and few of them have paid close attention to Trump and his shit forsaken privilege in escaping consequences since he left office.
It will be a long wait, but four years of unbridled trump will open a lot of eyes. Let them get a healthy, sustained dose of exactly what they didn’t realize they asked for and then we rebuild.
And don’t give away the House like that. It’s not over yet, and with any luck that guardrail will remain.
Harris had a good start, but she never built on it. She stuck to her talking points and Trump will be worse rhetoric. That’s enough for many of us, but the majority need to be swept away by sensation.
She didn’t humanize herself enough, didn’t show the world who she is. She’s a private, guarded person (as much as a high profile politician can be) and a lot of people think that makes her unlikable. Unfortunately presidential candidates need to be well liked to succeed.

Trump is a Christian charlatan, anyone can see that.
In the face of overwhelming evidence against the fables in their book, even a charlatan offers comfort that they’re still special, still virtuous and righteous.
It’s a sad state of affairs for people who are willfully ignorant, terrified they might not be as special as they think.

politics @lemmy.world•Puerto Rico GOP chair threatens to withhold Trump supportEnglish
6·2 years agoI can attest to you being half right based on my two Puerto Rican coworkers, both Trumpers.
One rationalized his choice by saying two things (paraphrasing his words):
-
Puerto Ricans have the same trash sentiment about Dominicans and aren’t shy about it. So since they dish it out, they should be able to take it.
-
He decided Puerto Rico is trash because the government is corrupt and pockets all the US federal funding.
It didn’t bother him that Tony Hinchcliffe, or Trump’s campaign at large has no place saying these things.
The other coworker has changed his mind and is NOT ok with the comments. It may be too late since he probably already voted; I’m not going to ask him.

187·2 years agoAh yes, damage control. You chose this, Mickey D’s, now would a sales slump ‘resonate’ with your shareholder clowns?

Maybe try not being followers who allow ourselves to be influenced. I think if you had described this social media situation to average people 20 years ago most would have seen it as dystopian, evil even. But because it happened so gradually it gained acceptance.
I guess what I’m saying is we should get the hell rid of it all so eventually public opinion won’t be swayed by cheap foreign labor, bots, and people who just want to burn it all down.
But we won’t because too many think all this is better than the world before it existed.
