I do, I actually have very good insurance and a pretty-alright 401k. My partner doesn’t, and it’s… brutal. They’ve got several serious health conditions that they just hope aren’t going to kill them in the next decade or so.

Hot take, but it’s both. I make $40k in a major american city, and while it sucks I have a decent amount saved up, I live alone, and I’ve paid off all my debt (although I’ll probably never be able to afford a home).

To be clear, I don’t think anyone should have to cut the corners I do to live with financial security, and not everyone can (my partner is disabled, financial security is a pipe dream for them), but it isn’t impossible for most people.

We use liters for soft drinks and liquor, but gallons for fuel, milk, and water. For recipes we use fluid ounces or cups since gallons are kind of a large for that.

It’s actually a mixed system, similar to the UK but with less metric in the mix.

They eat crops and are considered a disease vector here. They can also damage your home by trying to build a nest inside a wall or something.

Honestly, I think a lot of that was a Russian psy op. We all know Russian trolls have been stirring up the far right to stir up unrest, it stands to reason they’d do the same on the far left too (like the soviets funding both neo-nazis and communists in the 60s).

Plus, “vote for the guy who wants to genocide harder as a protest against genocide” was always a questionable line of reasoning.

There’s degrees of support. Trump restarted the export of certain types of munitions while the Biden admin refused to condemn the genocide, they didn’t act in support of the colonization of the west bank or publically encourage the Israeli government to depopulate Gaza.

Obviously neither option was good and genocide is bad, but one option probably would have resulted in slightly less loss of life than the other.

I feel bad for the guy. I used to work in retail outside Dallas and he came in regularly. The guy couldn’t really maintain a conversation, had difficulty answering open ended questions, and had to be accompanied everywhere.

I saw him running for senate in Georgia maybe a year later.
