Well I’m pretty sure with a longer campaign he team would’ve figured out “I’ll keep doing what Biden is doing” was a losing message and dropped it. I don’t think there was any chance of them acknowledging the genocide in Gaza by Nov '24, because the general public hadn’t come around on it by then.

Well the answer to “why did people still support Trump after Jan 6th” is actually “Jan 6th.”
Those people that came to DC and walked to the Capitol and stormed out are Americans who were a) pissed off and b) willing and able to travel and march and attack on behalf of Trump.
That’s not nothing in terms of power and influence. And it’s indicative of a BUNCH of people who met condition (a) but not (b). Like probably an order of magnitude or more.
Since no Republican stepped up to steal those supporters from Trump by pointing out how absolutely un-American Jan 6th was, they stayed loyal to him. So the politicians followed, the owners followed, and the media followed.
Just over 9 months, not a year.

If Mamdani wins and keeps his mandate strong to the point that opposition to him is career suicide, he can implement some amazing improvements.

I’m conflicted on this one because companies should be transparent, but the current quarterly requirements drive incredibly short sighted decisions aimed exclusively at pumping up the share price every 3 months.
Publicly traded companies don’t plan more than like 3 years ahead because of this pressure.
Dodge v Ford, eBay v Newmark, probably lots of other court decisions, all make share price the only thing that matters to a Board of Directors. Nothing about the workers. Nothing about the community. Nothing about the nation…

I’m very much against conspiracy theories, especially concerning our elections which are administered by many many independent entities. I was very concerned as I watched electronic voting machines - especially without paper trails - become more and more popular over the past 30 years. Even more as the industry consolidated and it came down to a handful of private, for-profit manufacturers.
The thing I’ve read about that is keeping the door of conspiracy open in my mind is the “drop off” rate, which has to do with the number of “President only” ballots, where only the President is chosen, and no down ballot votes are cast.
Apparently Trump’s ballots have an unusually high - like statistically unlikely - drop off. And it’s either only in or mostly in/more pronounced in swing states.
