https://github.com/tchapi/davis uses the same library as nextcloud (and basically every other Foss calendar app) and just tries to wrap an admin interface around it.

Nix / NixOS@programming.dev•Nix - Death by a thousand cuts - Jono's CornerEnglish
2·1 year agoHow does “major version upgrades” make it into the “so-so” category? This is one of the best (long term) features of NixOS, since stuff does not really break, you can easily test it with VM tests. What he describes in this seciton is that plasma 6 didn’t make it into that “stable” version of NixOS… but it’d be the same on any other distro, more or less?

2·1 year agoIts even worse if you go look at the main Dev getting it into nixpkgs, some called it out and her merged his own commit into nixpkgs anyway.
Luckily there are a lot of different tools in this space, including good ole nix shell.

7·1 year agoTo continually enhance the AI’s recommendations, we collect anonymous data on the environments generated. This feedback helps us train better models and improve accuracy.
And it is opt out, not opt in.

Nix / NixOS@programming.dev•Closing the Nix Gap: From Environments to Packaged Applications for Rust - devenvEnglish
10·1 year agoBy default devenv uploads your code to their server to train its AI.
On one hand, I sympathize with the concern and desire for transparency. After all, vulnerabilities easily missed by AI can have devastating effects on someone’s privacy and infrastructure. On the other hand, should we really be any more hesitant over a vibe coded project than an app launched by someone whose GitHub profile links to their Neocities page (no shade intended)?
The answer is “yes.” Neocites is chill. Vibe coded software that maybe works is not.

4·2 years agoIf you want to self host your contacts and calendars and have multiple users, I still don’t think there is anything better. I hope Open Cloud gets there eventually, but right now its only the beginning.

8·2 years agothe base install is still pretty lean, its only hulking if you enable all their new junk, but if you don’t enable all that, the default, at least when installed it was quite lean.
There isn’t any difference. The team who was developing OCIS left own cloud and forked OCIS into OpenCloud. They’ll continue developing OpenCloud.
OoenCloud is a fork of this.

11·2 years agoIf the ebay seller is the same as https://serverpartsdeals.com/ then they’re great and have good standing in the community from what I can see. Contact them and get a replacement. This kind of thing happens with used drives.
