I’m going to try and implement crowdsec for all my ProxMox containers over Cloudflare tunnels. Wish me luck and that my wife and kids let me do this without constantly making shot up fore to do.
Oh, I just install Obsidian in all my devices (laptop, PC, phone and tablet) and then sync them all via Syncthing. No docker, no server, just sync the Obsidian folder on each device.
I tried trillium, but turns out I can’t organize anything to save my life, so now I run Obsidian for notes and snipe for all my networks and devices.
I have it for my home and office. Nice piece of software honestly.
It’s always DNS 😂
This is what led me to set up SnipeIT and keep a log on every change on each device. It gets wild as the devices and services increase.
Story of my nerd life 😂

There’s Yuno, CasaOS is ridiculously easy to setup, manage and maintain as well. There’s UnRaid (not free, but very good), Proxmox is extremely versatile.
I am currently running light services (caldav, carddav, PW manager, and some other lighter stuff) on an N150 mini PC, and have a hefty server for heavier services running on Proxmox.
Of course, I follow the 3-2-1 backup rule, but only for data I could never get again. Movies, Series, music, I never back up.

That is exactly where my mind took me as well 🤣

Just subscribed. I’ll listen to a few of your episodes. I’m always looking for good content on privacy, data sovereignty and Linux everything. Thanks for sharing.

This is absolutely critical. Jellyfin is not made with security as an important factor.

Easy, mine is local only and on it’s own VLAN.

If you’re going to self-hosted instead of using a VPS (I know you said you’re looking at a VPS solution, this is just in case) make sure you can segregate your networks. A router that allows you to create virtual LANs, same with the access points and switches if needed.
You don’t want to expose all your devices to the internet for a few services.

You can still run the smart switches locally if you have the ones that support matter. But yeah, the old ones do require internet connection, which sucks.
I used to, but moved on to a full Unifi infrastructure about 2 years ago.
