Nothing, but they think it’ll influence voters. Also, the GOP has pulled shit before where they recessed, and when position is unable to reassemble quickly they can an emergency session to get a majority easily. Dems never leaving prevents that at least.

Last time the government shut down due to a lack of budget, Trump 2018, it was because republicans demanded the federal government pay for a bigger border wall, and Democrats said no. Now it’s because Republicans want to cut healthcare spending and Democrats are saying no.
I will say both sides are part of this shut down, same as the last, but I agree with the reasons of the democrats so much more.
