Hey, I am an old Xer and have come to the realization that the reason we lost last election (other than the cheating but decentralized voting almost always wins over cheating)… is because we listened to those “Never Trump Republicans” and embraced the Cheneys and others. You ignore the ways that the state can get around this. There are other legal constructions that can recategorize taxable income and any state that decides that new federal mandates are unconstitutional both nationwide and statewide can dedicate a good number of attorneys and judges to their cause. Additionally, those who live in the state can be recruited to change some of their buying habits, their earning paths… so that ultimately, there is much less that can be up for federal taxation as an individual (sharing economies, wellbeing metrics etc.).

Honestly, states can change their rules… and enshrine and encourage/incentivise communal ownerships… like Co-ops, B-Corps, etc. in which there is not actual US currency involved but state sponsored services provided with credits (like HC, Agriculture) – people could exchanged things and labor for those credits. Those who are disabled would fall under a social safety net and do some things that they are able to do to acquire credits but on a different level and our collective labor should cover our vulnerable and disabled of every age.

I cared for a young woman from Iraq, a refugee, the other day. She spent 8 years in a refugee camp in Turkey (d/t Trump immigration/refugee bans) before finally coming here. She has 2 children, a worried husband and she is pretty sick now. I hope she can get the surgery she needs.
