  • I didn’t say anything about “turns”.

Yeah, you did. You likened it to skipping position in a queue. The whole point of a queue is to collectively manage turn order. It heavily implies that it’s someone’s turn next. Maybe you didn’t mean to, but that’s the obvious implication of the phrasing.

On the rest, we’re just going to start going in circles, so I’ll leave it there.

  • That’s why I explicitly said people would have to save the money so they could pay their taxes come next April. You’re under no legal obligation to have accurate tax withholdings. It’s only a convenience to make sure you don’t owe a ton at the end of the year. You just have to make sure you properly file and pay up come tax season.

Of course, an increasingly criminal administration might do something illegal to seize withheld funds, but that’s another thing all together. Force their hands and make them do it if they want the money.

  • For sheer size of the US, it can be exceedingly difficult to get all the way to DC. If you can’t fly and have to drive for whatever reason, financial or otherwise, it’s a 39 hour drive going from LA in California to DC. One way. With absolutely no time accounted for bathroom breaks, food, or even sleep. It’s like a three day drive each way. That’s basically a worst case scenario, but also, a ton of people live on the west coast, so it’s not exactly an uncommon one. Unfortunately, the sheer geographical scale of the US makes it very difficult for people to amass specifically in DC.

You’re 100% right, though, that anyone who can do it should do it.

  • No fucking shit, I’m tired of it, too. But grown ups deal with the choices in front of them instead of throwing a tantrum and trying to take their toys and go home. If the thing you really care about is Gaza and Palestinians, you have to deal with the immediate issue, which is that four years of active encouragement from Trump is going to do a fuckload of damage that can’t just be undone, even if your protest does encourage some change from Democrats. Now, Democrats don’t seem to have learned a fucking thing, and Trump is trying to make american soldiers active participants. I understand why you’re upset and why you want change, but the tactics you’re using are actively making things worse. And then, when your protest vote ushers in “the doom of the USA”, who do you blame? The people you refused to vote for because somehow, the greater evil was preferable to the lesser evil.

  • Running a server is very doable. There are packages to deploy and configure almost everything for you and removing a ton of headache.

Getting your email recognized as not spam by the major providers is pretty much impossible. You need all sorts of stuff to help verify integrity including special DNS records and public identity keys, but even if you do everything right, your mail can very easily get black holed before it even reaches a user’s inbox because of stupid shit like someone abused your rented server’s IP years ago, and you can’t seem to get it off everyone’s lists.

Email as a decentralized tool has effectively been ruined by spam and anti-spam measures. You’re effectively forced to use a provider because it’s near impossible to make your outgoing mail work as an individual. I think some of those anti-spam measures are anticompetitive, but I do think some are just desperate attempts to reduce the massive flow of spam.
